This model is a representation of the actual 1954 Carrera Panamericana-winning Ferrari, driven to global acclaim by its pilot Umberto Maglioli. The 1954 edition was the fifth and final running of the legendary Mexican sports car race; a brutal affair that incorporated no fewer than eight stages and 1,910 racing miles (3,070 kilometres) in total. The car, chassis number 0392 M, was no stranger to the race track, having been one of the Ferrari factory team cars at Le Mans earlier that year. It was entered in the South American race by a gentleman by the name of Erwin Goldschmidt, who must have been amazed by the speeds the car achieved during the race clocking an average of 107 miles per hour over the near 2000 mile course. Indeed, on the final 227-mile stage to the finish, this prancing horse averaged a stunning 138 miles per hour. The ‘Escuadron 1-2-3’ branding refers to sponsor’s products; a range of household goods. This fine 1:8 scale model of the Ferrari 375 Plus has been handcrafted and finished in our workshops with the co-operation and assistance of Ferrari regarding original finishes, materials, archive imagery and drawings. The use of supremely accurate digital scanning of the original car has allowed us to perfectly recreate every detail at scale. Furthermore, it has undergone detailed scrutiny by both engineering and design teams to ensure complete accuracy of representation.
